Glenda is from Detroit. She is 50+. For 4 hours on September 27th, she was within 1 foot of me. She smiled a lot. She ran 10 minutes faster than she ever had in the best of her 11 previous marathons.
Glenda needed to run 4:05:59 or better to qualify for Boston.
We arrived at the finish line with time to spare, in fact she met her secondary goal of sub 4 hours, smiling the whole way. This was a 10 minute PB for her. We hugged, it was sweaty. She made City TV news that night too.
Although our paths may cross in Boston, I will probably never see her again but I consider hera part of my running family. Go Glenda!
By the way, can you spot me in the photo?
